JOE’S PLACE - EPISODIC GUSTER DOCUMENTARY
One of the very first podcasts from a major-label band, Joe’s Place is a five-part, episodic docu-comedy chronicling the making of “Ganging Up on the Sun,” Guster’s fifth studio album, which the band self-produced at the home studio of Joe Pisapia - producer, multi-instrumentalist, and newest member of the band - in Nashville, Tennessee.
Shot over the course of six months and culled from hundreds of hours of footage, Joe’s Place screened weekly over a five-week period - premiering simultaneously on YouTube, guster.com, and the iTunes Music Store, where it was a featured podcast for five consecutive weeks.
Providing fans with a front-row seat to Guster’s recording process and giving them an intimate look at the band’s personality, the series created a groundswell of interest in the new album and garnered hundreds of thousands of views and downloads.
“The Complete First Season of Joe’s Place” was later released as a DVD with 90+ minutes of additional bonus materials - including deleted scenes, band commentary, a music video, easter eggs, and a never-before-seen-episode.
Created, Produced, and Directed by D.F. Yonkman
